Living among the Wild Mustangs in Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico. What an opportunity as a painter, songwriter and advocate for our wild mustangs, to paint and live among them!
Inspired from the beginning of the first wild mustang I painted from the Sand Wash Basin in Colorado. With many visits to several states of our rangelands that wild mustangs call home, I have chosen this as my life work. To reflect the beauty and the spirit of one of our nations most historic living legends, The American Mustang. Vanishing from our public rangelands, these incredible 'gifts' of our nation need our voice to protect and preserve them on the lands they were promised.

'Sierra Cancion' ... my little red roan
This is one of two 'El Rito' mustangs we adopted from a recent BLM round-up in Northern New Mexico. Bittersweet to say the least with mixed emotions. The choice to leave them to possibly end in a long term holding facility, or choose to give them a purpose...and some sense of freedom. Here at Yellow Hills Ranch, they will have the best of both, and hopefully become advocates for those still wild and free on the public lands in hopes to protect and preserve our vanishing wild american mustangs.
